What We Do
Many students attend school every day without their basic needs met like food or clean clothes. They are expected to perform and learn but haven’t slept or eaten. CIS services reach into the lives of these vulnerable students, identify their struggles, meet their needs, and ensure they are staying on the path to learn and graduate with a plan to achieve in life.
Case Management
CIS social workers provide intensive case management to assess each child’s unique needs and ensure children and families are connected with the community resources they need. Needs range from counseling services, health and dental screenings, food, shelter, gang intervention and prevention, and more. CIS partners with thousands of local service agencies to bring resources inside schools and walks along-side students to improve attendance and bahavior.
Mental Health
Licensed clinical social workers provide clinical services to address the mental health needs of students through one-on-one counseling inside schools. CIS mental health supports eliminates any financial, transportation, or distance barrier that exists. Helping students overcome obstacles puts them on the path for a better future.
CIS Model
What is Case Management
CIS provides campus wide support for students encouraging them to stay in school and achieve in life. Through one-to-one counseling, students who are at risk of dropping out for one or more reasons receive an in-depth needs assessments by our onsite social worker and an individualized case management plan connecting the student and their family with local support services and resources they need for the student to be well-supported and to achieve academic success.
CIS case manages over 127,000 individual Texas students annually on 1,558 campuses across the state and in 190 school districts each year, and see significant success in the behavior and outcomes of those students.

What Are Mental Health Services?
Many of our most vulnerable students have experienced trauma or loss. Our Mental Health Supports program addresses the mental health needs of students through one-on-one counseling by licensed clinicians on school campuses. The program is meant to go deeper than the case management program by providing individual counseling sessions inside a student’s school, thus eliminating any transportation or distance barrier that may exist. Clinical staff manage a caseload of up to 30 students at a time, providing each with weekly, 45-minute counseling sessions.
